About the team

The Connected Persons team at Buckinghamshire Council supports families through the process of becoming a special guardian. They are there to make sure children find a suitable home when there is concern for their welfare.

You can contact the team at any stage of the process to ask questions and get the help you need. That includes before the application process even begins, if you’re thinking of becoming a guardian and would just like to learn more.

Some of the topics people usually ask us about include:

Some people become a special guardian when the child is already living with them. If that applies to you, the Connected Persons team can still give you advice and support about any aspect of their care. They also work with people who are applying to be temporary foster carers.

Already a special guardian?

If you are already a special guardian, you should contact our advice line and speak to the Post-order Support team. They work with special guardians every day and can give you the support you need, no matter what the topic.

You can also explore our guides on life as a guardian, which cover everything from education and money to behaviour and contact with family.
